Curriculum of The Study Programme

The curriculum of the Communication Science Study Programme is designed to accommodate The expected learning outcomes, which are the minimum criteria for graduate qualifications. The expected learning outcomes include attitudes, knowledge, and skills reflected through courses, matrices, and teaching materials along with credits by considering the depth of the chosen learning strategy and the distribution of courses in each semester and its weighting (Capaian Pembelajaran (Expected Learning Outcome - ELO) - Ilmu Komunikasi) (appendix 1a). The curriculum is designed referring to the National Higher Education Standards (SNPT), as well as the Higher Education Communication Sciences Association (ASPIKOM) and the Education Association of Communication Science of Muhammadiyah Higher Education Institutions (APIK PTMA) as forums that house the Communication Science Higher Education institution.

The Communication Science Study Programme's curriculum structure is future-oriented and designed according to the learning outcomes. The list of course distributions with a total of 146 credits (220 ECTS) can be found in appendix 3s. 1 SKS consists of   50 minutes face-to-face, 60 minutes of an independent task, and 60 minutes of the structured task. Therefore, 1 SKS equals to 170 minutes per week/45 hours per semester. Besides, 1 ECTS equals to 25-30 hours per semester.  Thus, 1 SKS equals to approximately 1.5 ECTS (appendix 3c).

 Furthermore, UMM Communication Science Study Programme makes media literacy its speciality. The distinctiveness of media literacy is taken at the highest literacy level that graduates must possess, namely being able to produce media messages and conduct studies on the content and impact of media both as communication practitioners and communication researchers that can be described as follows:
